Britich Family History research, hourly rate

Family history By Cerys

LEAVES - HOURLY RATE

Leaves is my hourly rate for specific genealogy queries - a great value service that's ideal for finding out about a particular person, aspect of your British family tree, or event in your family’s history.

Is An Hourly Rate Right For YOU?

You may be wondering whether the 'leaves' service is right for you. Research carried out at an hourly rate is completed with as much dedication and at as high a standard as any of my other work.

Leaves research is bespoke and tailored to what you
would like to find out about your family.

You could request research into places or occupations associated with you ancestors, or ask me to find out details about a specific individual (for example: When was your grandmother born? How many siblings did your grandfather have? Who did your great-uncle marry?)

What Is Leaves?

British family history
Leaves is my hourly rate.

This is usually British/UK based research (research based in the rest of the world is assessed on a query-by-query basis,)  for £32 per hour for a minimum of one hour.

In the event that extra expenses are incurred (for birth, marriage, or death certificates etc.) - they will be agreed with the customer before being undertaken.

Leaves research is tailored to what you would like to find out about your family - perfect for those who have hit a 'brick wall' or want to find out  the truth behind a family story.

How Does It Work?

Well, you send me an e-mail (see e-mail address below,) as a first enquiry.

What you say in this e-mail isn't set in stone – the research is individual, so it
stands to reason that the enquiry will be as well – but you may want to include things such as what you'd like to learn from the research (what your 'aims' are - this helps provide focus to the research,) and some preliminary details such as the time period or relatives your research will focus on.

The charge is £28 per hour, and a deposit is required. The deposit is usually 50% of the full price (excluding expenses,) but there is a minimum deposit of £28. If you are ordering 1 hour of research only, the deposit will therefore be to the full cost of the service. Payment will be via cheque or PayPal invoice.

At the end of the research, you will usually receive a research report and any documents ordered on your behalf. Your report will either be posted to you as a printed copy, or will be e-mailed to you in PDF form. Depending on the format you choose, and the size of the research report, there may be P&P to pay – though you will be consulted before this charge is added.

Any expenses, such as P&P or ordering documentation (e.g. Birth, Marriage, or Death certificates,) will be agreed with you before they are incurred.

So, What sort of work can you request at this hourly rate?

Well, due to the personal and bespoke nature of the research, no list will ever be exhaustive or fully complete, but here's an idea of some of the types of research that can be included in this service:

- Census look-ups/searches

- BMD (Birth, Marriage, and Death) index look-ups/searches

- Identifying siblings of ancestors

- Identifying the parents of a specific individual

- Providing you with local/social historical context that may have impacted on your family, e.g. the history of industrial schools, workhouses, industry, or rural life.
